Description
Summary:Indonesian folklore, including tales about the origins of various natural phenomena, is important to preserve because it conveys moral messages that reflect the noble values of each ethnic group, such as the Legend of Lake Toba from the Batak tribe. The Batak tribe, the third largest ethnic group in Indonesia, is known for its strong sense of family, mutual cooperation, and vibrant culture. However, the popularity of Indonesian culture has begun to fade amid globalisation and the rising influence of foreign media among urban youth. This project aims to retell the Legend of Lake Toba in the form of a modern webtoon comic to make it more accessible to Indonesian urban youth. The design process involves literature studies, expert interviews, and a visual storytelling approach. This webtoon comic is expected to help preserve culture, especially Batak folklore, among Indonesian urban youth.
