Summary:PT XYZ is a coal mining company located in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. In this final project research, an analysis of the low wall slope stability from the Life of Mine (LOM) design of the North-West Pit of PT XYZ was conducted to determine the dynamic factor of safety (FS) and probability of failure (PF) using the Finite Element Method by applying joint modeling engineering and providing recommendations for stable and safe slope geometry based on the Keputusan Menteri ESDM No.1827 K/30/MEM/2018. From the slope stability analysis results, the dynamic FS values of the actual slope condition without and with the addition of joints were 0.80 and 0.62 respectively, and the probability of failure for both was 100%, which does not meet the minimum requirements for overall slope stability with high landslide severity, which are dynamic FS ? 1.1 and PF ? 5%. Therefore, a slope improvement recommendation was made by using the resloping method. The dynamic FS values of the resloped slope condition without and with the addition of joints were 1.15 and 1.09 respectively, and the probability of failure for both was 0% and 0.78% respectively, which can be considered stable and safe based on the Keputusan Menteri ESDM No.1827 K/30/MEM/2018. The recommended slope management is to reslope and monitor the slope, particularly in the slope are which modelled with the addition of joints.
