Description
Summary:The city of Yogyakarta is a cultural city with a cultural history that has long been widely known. An imaginary line called the Philosophy Axis is a reference in the development of this city which is unique. Submission to UNESCO as a world heritage is proof of the richness of existing cultural resources. Tourism itself which is used as a supporting activity in the Philosophical Axis is not the main activity which is the aim of its use, the complexity of its use is the duality of its use as a tourism resource and the historical value of its cultural use which is still ongoing. Revitalization of heritage resources is a two-sided impact of existing tourism use, but the visitor experience based on visitor preferences has never been analyzed to determine their interests so that the right targets are in its development. Tourists' visiting experience will be more optimal. A heritage tourism development strategy based on existing tourist experiences needs to be implemented in order to support its future development. This research uses a heritage tourism development approach (Heritage) according to Ashworth (2000) and analysis uses Memorable Tourism Experience (MTE) according to Kim (2009). Then, the analysis uses quantitative analysis to analyze existing tourist experiences by reviewing the experiences and impressions that tourists feel by distributing questionnaires. Based on research that has been carried out, it was found that positive experiences have a very big influence on MTE and also the desire to return and the experiences that tourists remember. Thus, the main strategy resulting in developing the Philosophy Axis is to improve aspects of accommodation, transportation and all tourism sectors that provide positive experiences to tourists. In this way, the Philosophy Axis in development and development will be more optimal in order to increase the number of tourists in the future.
