Description
Summary:Abstract:

PDAM Tirtanadi is a regional state owned company that possesses a monopoly right to supply clean water in Medan. Along with the globalization era there is a possibility of emerging new competitors in the coming future. Therefore, it is necessary for Tirtanadi to implement continuous quality improvement including the adoption of ISO9000 quality standard.

An attempt to implement ISO9000 can be initiated by studying the current characteristics with the assistance of questionnaires. The questionnaires capture the employers perception on the condition involved based on 20 elements of ISO9000. Then, the data are analyzed by using interval scale through Green Successive Category method. The results are then statistically tested to obtain the elements which require improvement in the implementation process.

There are five departments found to be in a weak condition to implement activities required by ISO9000, namely Logistics department in purchasing element, Secretary in document control element, Planning in management responsibilities element, Personnel in training element, Customer Relations in servicing, management responsibilities, and quality system elements. During research it was found that two departments still lack of acceptance in management responsibilities element requirement. The two departments are Customer Relations and Planning.
