Description
Summary:The unmonitored use of smartphones by children can negatively impact their development, leading to issues such as cyberbullying, physical, and mental health problems, and poor interpersonal skills. To address this, a mobile application-based system was developed to monitor children's smartphone usage. A survey and interviews were conducted to gather user requirements. The system collects and displays children's phone usage data to parents and allows parental control features such as app blocking and screen locking. Originating from an open- source project initiated in 2019, the system underwent module and user testing. Usability testing showed promising results, with Single Easy Question (SEQ) scores above 5 out of 7 and a System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 77.92, categorized as Good. Additionally, the system enables faster monitoring compared to manual methods. Further development is possible to better meet user needs.
