Pedestrian safety should be given the highest priority among other road users. Even so, pedestrians must also fulfill their obligations by using the crossing facilities provided, such as pedestrian footbridge. The behavior of pedestrians who cross carelessly even though there is a footbridge is a problem that must be resolved. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate pedestrian intention to use a footbridge and design improvements to increase the intention of using it. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to 400 respondents at three footbridge locations in Bandung City, namely footbridges on Merdeka Street, Ir. H. Juanda Street, and Dr. Djunjunan Street. The questionnaire used is divided into five constructs derived from the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model, namely perceived quality, attitude toward the behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and intention, with a total of 30 questions. The scale used is a Likert scale with five points. In the perceived quality construct, a scale of [1] (very bad) to [5] (very good) is used, while in other constructs, a scale of [1] (strongly disagree) to [5] (strongly agree) is used. The collected data was processed using IBM SPSS Statistics and SmartPLS 4. The proposed solutions were designed using design thinking methodology and validated by pedestrians. The results of this study indicate that all demographic variables have significant average differences in the footbridge use intention. Factors that significantly influence the intention are perceived quality, attitude toward the behavior, and subjective norm, with attitude toward the behavior as the most influential construct. This proposed design is expected to increase the intention to use footbridges so that the number of pedestrian accidents can be reduced. text |

In Indonesia, over half of pedestrian accidents are caused by jaywalking. Pedestrian safety
should be given the highest priority among other road users. Even so, pedestrians must also
fulfill their obligations by using the crossing facilities provided, such as pedestrian
footbridge. The behavior of pedestrians who cross carelessly even though there is a
footbridge is a problem that must be resolved. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to
evaluate pedestrian intention to use a footbridge and design improvements to increase the
intention of using it.
Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to 400 respondents at three
footbridge locations in Bandung City, namely footbridges on Merdeka Street, Ir. H. Juanda
Street, and Dr. Djunjunan Street. The questionnaire used is divided into five constructs
derived from the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model, namely perceived quality,
attitude toward the behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and intention,
with a total of 30 questions. The scale used is a Likert scale with five points. In the perceived
quality construct, a scale of [1] (very bad) to [5] (very good) is used, while in other
constructs, a scale of [1] (strongly disagree) to [5] (strongly agree) is used. The collected
data was processed using IBM SPSS Statistics and SmartPLS 4. The proposed solutions were
designed using design thinking methodology and validated by pedestrians.
The results of this study indicate that all demographic variables have significant average
differences in the footbridge use intention. Factors that significantly influence the intention
are perceived quality, attitude toward the behavior, and subjective norm, with attitude
toward the behavior as the most influential construct. This proposed design is expected to
increase the intention to use footbridges so that the number of pedestrian accidents can be
reduced.
