KFTD facilitates the distribution and trade of health and pharmaceutical products of KF. The company has limited warehouse space, it leads to many products being stored outside the storage area, particularly carton-packaged products at room temperature. Currently, there are only 207 pallet spaces for storing carton-packaged products at room temperature, with a warehouse utility rate of 133.33%. Products are stored in random storage policy, causing difficulties for staff on searching the items and resulting in high travel time within the warehouse. Therefore, a warehouse layout design and product allocation plan are needed to minimize travel time while maintaining warehouse utility within the optimal range of 70% to 85%. To get the optimum solution, the current policy, Flow-through & random storage policy, Flow-through & class-based storage policy, U-flow & random storage policy and U-flow & class-based storage policy are compared. Steps in processing the data start with data collection, FSN analysis with turnover ratio, cluster analysis based on product purchase, proximity matrix from order pattern proximity, determination of storage space requirements, warehouse design, determination of warehouse utility, product allocation within the warehouse based on product class and estimation of product retrieval travel time within the warehouse were conducted. The selection of the best model was conducted using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The optimal warehouse layout design is U-flow & class-based storage policy, with an available storage capacity of 495 pallets, two docks and a warehouse utility rate of 84.04%. The total travel time within the warehouse during the research period from January 2022 to December 2023 is 494.65 hours with reduction of 89.50%. The required warehouse area is 337.97 ???? , with a reduction of 2.36% and the volume required is 1622.27 ???? 2 , with an increase of 192.91% from the existing conditions. 3 text |
