The addition 1, 3 and 5% of Tween 20 increased the insulin absorption from 17.69 uU/ml (without Tween 20) to 46.27 uU/ml; 73.59 uU/ml and 102.79 uU/ml in white male rabbits of Vlaams rose species with a weight of 2.5 - 3.1 kg. <br /> <br /> <br /> The serum insulin levels were determined by radio immunoassay method and the serum glucose levels were determined by Glucose Enzymatique PAP. <br /> <br /> <br /> The calculated absolut availability showed that the percentage of insulin absorption from the suppository dosage form was 7.09% (without Tween 20), 10.35% (1%), 18.11% (3%) and 25.56% (5%), lower than that of the 1 unit of insulin given intramuscularly (93.39%) And subcutaneously (95.70%). <br /> <br /> <br /> The suppository of 4 unit insulin containing 1, 3 and 5% Tween 20 showed a maximum effect of a decrease in blood glucose concentration until 77.13 mg/100 ml, 64.53mg/100 ml and 58.27 mg/100 ml at about 45 minutes after insertion. Whereas a decrease of blood glucose concentration waas shown with a result, respectively after giving a 1 unit insulin intravenously, the glucose level was 60.17 mg/100 ml after 60 minutes, and after iving intrmuscularly and subcutaaaneously, the glucose level became 56.70 mg/100 ml and 58.43 mg/100 ml after 120 minutes. text
