The presence of the Muslim community and the establishment of Gelgel Village left a form of historical traces, namely the oldest house that has had more than 5 (five) generations. However, along with the development of the era and the increasing need for space functions, there are several factors that influence people not to maintain old buildings that have historical value inherited from their ancestors. Without awareness from the community and government in maintaining a historical heritage, it can result in the loss of evidence of historical developments that occurred in Gelgel Muslim Village as the oldest Muslim village on the island of Bali. The results of the study revealed that the oldest house in the Muslim Village of Gelgel was built by a religious leader during the colonial period, namely M. Mudita Abra. This house building has several characteristics of colonial buildings and is still maintained until today. In addition, the concept of the oldest house in the Muslim Village of Gelgel basically adheres to the legacy of Balinese ancestors and there are also several other cultures such as Javanese while adapting to the beliefs of each group. The existence of the concept of the oldest house form that has survived until now can be associated with the evaluation or modification made by the local community to the village itself and the ability of the community to respect each other even in the midst of the fact that they are part of a multicultural society text |

description |
Bali is one of the islands in Indonesia that is known for its strong Hindu culture.
Even so, it does not mean that there are no other religions besides Hinduism. Islam
has been known in Bali since the 14th century along with the glory of Hinduism.
The presence of the Muslim community and the establishment of Gelgel Village left
a form of historical traces, namely the oldest house that has had more than 5 (five)
generations. However, along with the development of the era and the increasing
need for space functions, there are several factors that influence people not to
maintain old buildings that have historical value inherited from their ancestors.
Without awareness from the community and government in maintaining a historical
heritage, it can result in the loss of evidence of historical developments that
occurred in Gelgel Muslim Village as the oldest Muslim village on the island of
Bali. This research method was carried out qualitatively with an ethnographic
approach. The purpose of using the ethnographic approach is to obtain detailed
information about the form of historical documentation to trace the oldest house in
Gelgel Muslim Village with the aim of being preserved as a form of historical
heritage. The results of the study revealed that the oldest house in the Muslim
Village of Gelgel was built by a religious leader during the colonial period, namely
M. Mudita Abra. This house building has several characteristics of colonial
buildings and is still maintained until today. In addition, the concept of the oldest
house in the Muslim Village of Gelgel basically adheres to the legacy of Balinese
ancestors and there are also several other cultures such as Javanese while adapting
to the beliefs of each group. The existence of the concept of the oldest house form
that has survived until now can be associated with the evaluation or modification
made by the local community to the village itself and the ability of the community
to respect each other even in the midst of the fact that they are part of a multicultural
society |
