As a manufacturer of aircraft and its components, PT Dirgantara Indonesia has a diverse market demand from different parts of the world. In order to meet this demand, PT Dirgantara Indonesia has a fraction limit of defective products on the Airbus A350 that must not exceed 1%. However, there are still some components with a high percentage of defects, such as Hinge FWD with a percent of defect of 20,49%. Furthermore, it is known that the sigma value calculated based on the stability and process capacity at PT Dirgantara Indonesia is 2,5260. The sigma values indicate that the company's performance is still poor in producing the Hinge FWD. To reduce the existing defect rate, a method is used as a step in improving the quality of Hinge FWD products. The method used is the Six Sigma method through the DMAIC approach. (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control). Then, to identify the factor and subfactor causing the defect of each type of defect on the Hinge FWD used the Delphi method. Based on the results of the Delphy method, the priority defect type was chosen using FMEA and RPN calculations, i.e. hole diameter oversized, undercut, and hole not center. Then from the type of defect was designed the improvement by making a prototype of sound detection and SOP (Standar Operational Procedure) related to the use of the prototipe. From the results of use of prototypes of voice detection found that the run out spindle or cutter that causes the type defect diameter hole oversized, undercut, and hole not center has a sound frequency of more than 4000 Hz, while for the normal CNC machine only emits a sound Frequency in the range 800-3000 Hz. The sound frequency differential is used as a basis for early detection of defects on the Hinge FWD so that the prototype can prevent the occurrence of defective products while the machining process is in progress. text
