ANALYSIS OF WATER BALANCE AND WATER ALLOCATION AT THE DOWNSTREAM OF CITARUM WATERHSED MODELED BY WEAP (WATER EVALUATION AND PLANNING) PROGRAM

Citarum River is the longest river with the biggest utilization in West Java up to DKI Jakarta. Covering an area of 175,382 hectares, the downstream of Citarum watershed serves as a significant catchment area for the Citarum Basin, which includes the Curug Dam, Tarum Channel, Citarum main river,...

Covering an area of 175,382 hectares, the downstream of Citarum watershed serves as a significant catchment area for the Citarum Basin, which includes the Curug Dam, Tarum Channel, Citarum main river, and discharging unto the Java Sea. Over the years, there has been a significant increase in water demand that is not aligned with the decrease in water availability. This leads to a need for review of water supply and allocation balance as a crucial aspect of watershed management. This study was conducted by reviewing the 2023-2024 annual water allocation plan (RAAT) as the basis for modeling the flow discharge of the downstream of Citarum watershed using the WEAP program. he results showed that the average annual water availability reached 217–474.2 m 3 /s, primarily from the main river, while the average existing annual water demand as 182–185.6 m 3 /s, with 63.3% dedicated to irrigation. The water balance at dry year with various scenarios indicated a range of 70.8-54.2% surplus condition and 29.2- 45.8% deficit condition. The reliability of industry sector has not meet the minimum number of 90% at some scenarios. Calibration results showed that the WEAP model achieved a NSE number of 0.34-0.68, correlation coefficient of 0.91-0.92, and a determination coefficient of 0.83-0.84 compared to observed discharge values at PDA Tanjungpura. text
