Summary: | The Partnership Bureau of Bandung Institute of Technology is responsible for
formulating policies, managing partnership programs, international mobility, and
services for international students. In its daily activities, the bureau faces
challenges with manual and non-integrated document storage, which disrupts the
monitoring process of partnerships. Additionally, the bureau lacks the necessary
information regarding ITB's intellectual assets for making strategic and impactful
decisions, such as international visits. The Bureau aims to develop an information
system to address these issues but has not been able to convey the requirements to
the Directorate of IT Development at ITB. Therefore, strategic planning for the
information system is needed for the Partnership Bureau at ITB.
The information system planning for the ITB Partnership Bureau is carried out
through several stages. First, an internal condition analysis is conducted by
mapping strategic objectives, business processes, and the actual condition of IS/IT.
Second, an external condition analysis is conducted by analyzing the external value
chain, PEST, and benchmarking against other partnership divisions. Third, an
information system needs analysis is performed using a SWOT analysis to
summarize the position of the Partnership Bureau in meeting objective goals, a
TOWS analysis to design strategic initiatives, an analysis of key success factors,
and the grouping and prioritization of information systems using the McFarlan
Grid.
The results indicate that there are 12 strategic objectives that the Partnership
Bureau aims to achieve, which are then broken down into 23 strategic initiatives as
ways to achieve these objectives. Additionally, 79 key success factors are identified,
which are translated into 88 system and information requirements. These system
and information requirements are grouped into 17 needed information systems.
Following the gap analysis, the ITB Partnership Bureau needs to develop and
design 12 information systems, with 9 systems being Management Information
Systems and 3 systems being Decision Support Systems.
