According to data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) in 2021, it was stated that 59% of rivers in Indonesia are heavily polluted. The majority of the largest waste contributors originate from the industrial sector, particularly the non-oil and gas industries, which experienced a growth of 4.83% in the third quarter of 2022 (Ministry of Industry, 2022). If left unchecked, this situation will have adverse effects on the environment and the living organisms in the surrounding areas. As a solution to this problem, an alternative technology called Photosynthetic Microbial Fuel Cell (PSMFC) is used. Microalgae are utilized in PSMFC as oxygen producers at the cathode through photosynthesis. Optimization of PSMFC is continuously carried out by testing factors that influence its performance. In this research, variations in wastewater types and light intensity are conducted to enhance the performance of PSMFC. Analysis of Open Circuit Potential (OCV), Electron Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), I-V-P curves is conducted to evaluate the performance of PSMFC. Additionally, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) tests are performed to determine the characteristics of the utilized microorganisms. text
