Public open spaces play an important role in building an inclusive, safe and productive city. One of the public open spaces in Bandung is the Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat Jawa Barat area which is a series of open spaces with a north-south axis connecting famous landmarks, namely the Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat Jawa Barat and Gedung Sate. This area is rich in historical value as the center of government during the Dutch colonial era. However, in its development, this area was neglected so that it was used as a residential area for the people of Bandung. There are three key problems in the design area, namely limited accessibility and connectivity between open spaces and the surrounding area due to access restrictions in the form of fences and boundary walls, the lack of attractiveness of the area around the open space as a trigger for pedestrian activities and the presence of informal spaces, namely densely populated settlements and street vendors that reduce the quality of the area's environment. The idea in this design study is to organize the public open space of the Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat Jawa Barat and its surrounding area with the aim of increasing accessibility, connectivity and attractiveness of the area. This study uses a fragmental design method with four stages, namely data collection, data analysis, formulating objectives and developing design concepts. There are two types of data collected in this study, namely primary data and secondary data. To obtain each achievement in the design process, an analysis was conducted on the design area using four methods, namely qualitative descriptive analysis, quantitative descriptive analysis, axial analysis and latent semantic analysis. The results of this thesis are in the form of a design of a public open space area that is in accordance with the principles of walkability design by maximizing the accessibility of the area integrated with the function of the building, vertical development of the area and the provision of decent city space for the informal sector.
