Numerous studies have discussed global tourism, particularly its impact on local communities. However, the interaction between new values introduced by global tourism and existing local values has not been thoroughly researched. Therefore, this study analyzes the response of the indigenous community of Canggu Village, Bali, to the socio-economic transformation caused by the rise of global tourism. This study employs a qualitative research approach using descriptive and content analysis methods. Primary data were obtained through interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and questionnaires involving 108 respondents, as well as secondary data from literature and institutional surveys. The study concludes that the response of the Canggu indigenous community to global tourism demonstrates a dynamic and complex adaptation effort. The findings can be summarized into three main layers: (1) the community exhibits flexibility towards cultural forms and traditions, adapting to new elements without losing their original cultural identity; (2) the community implements regulations regarding sadhana contributions for Tri Hita Karana purposes, but some regulations do not strictly limit land conversion, and their enforcement is not tightly controlled; (3) Tri Hita Karana values are still maintained through environmental preservation and collaboration among community members, but there is a tendency for a value shift from Parahyangan to Parahyangan and Pawongan through the phenomenon of cultural desacralization. This study provides recommendations regarding tourism regulations, cultural preservation strategies, and collaboration among stakeholders. text |
