Description
Summary:Tourism development based on disaster risk reduction in the coastal area of Pangandaran Regency is expected to play a role in promoting tourism growth by reducing the risk of tsunamis. This study uses a mixed-method approach with the application of tourism zoning analysis and tsunami risk modeling. The main objective of this study is to produce guidance for tourism development based on disaster risk reduction. The results of the analysis conclude that with tourism zoning analysis, the functions of each tourism zone can be determined, thus forming a comprehensive tourism service structure. Furthermore, the tsunami risk results show a high risk in the main/core zone, which is the primary tourist attraction, and the supporting/buffer zones. Therefore, development that applies mitigation efforts is needed to reduce these risks. These findings can make a significant contribution to the development of tourism in the coastal area of Pangandaran Regency, which is overshadowed by the threat of tsunamis. The practical implications of this study emphasize the importance of the attention given by the government, tourism business operators, and tourists to collaborate in building tourism based on disaster risk reduction.
