Civilization is the core of humans history. Civilization is met when a society reach its zenith in intellectuality, culture and genuine achievements. Those achievements reflect its attainment in the field of science, art, intensity of written history recording and the growing complexity in social-political institution. Consequently, every creation that was born in that kind of situation should be called as an artefact. Military fighter airplane is a humans artefact that shows mans capability to fulfill his own need of feeling secure. Defense and security does not come cheap. It needs a lot of seriousness for a nation to defend its integrity and dignity. Thats why building military fighter airplane business becomes a crucial matter; it reveals the level of national determination. Not only as an instrument of defense, a fighter airplane is also a representation of values, philosophy and ideology that shape a nations character building . This theses writing will investigate the design characteristics of military fighter airplane and study the factors that shape them. Design characteristics data are categorized as tangible aspects. These design characteristics is split into form design characteristic and numerical design characteristic. The form one is hard to observe and to be compared, because it is related heavily on intangible aspects, such as ideology and nations character. While the numerical one is more strairghtforward to compare and to be analyzed.
