The need for space for businesses on the banks of the river makes the residences on the banks of the Mempawah River have a dual function as business spaces. The house is the place to run a household-based business. Even though economically it has a positive impact, this home-based business activity has various problems. These settlements are not responsive to the existence of the river. This is shown by the number of dwellings that violate regulations related to river demarcation lines by expanding the mass of their buildings towards the river so that they are close to business sources. Business domestic waste is also not processed so it is still disposed of in the river. In addition, because the residences were not designed for businesses, there were several problems within the residences themselves: inefficient circulation, mixing of business and private spaces, and capacity mismatch. This project tries to design a residential business that is responsive to the existence of the river and the business activity itself. An environmentally friendly architectural approach and studies related to household-based business activities were chosen to answer these two issues. From studies related to eco-friendly architecture and its precedents, it is known that constructing buildings according to border regulations is one way to respond to the presence of rivers. In addition, there is a need for wastewater treatment so that business activities do not play a role in polluting the river. Through studies related to household-based businesses, it was found that there is a need for clear division boundaries between residential space and business space so that business residences are comfortable for residents and visitors. This can be achieved by separating space and public circulation in residential areas. In addition, the business space must also consider the capacity of the site and the surrounding environment. The study results show that the use of borders as green areas and the availability of waste processing are the main solutions to the above problems. It was also found that local architecture also has an important role in environmentally friendly development in the context of the banks of the Mempawah River. Other environmentally friendly architectural elements such as the use of local materials and renewable energy support the above solutions. Regarding problems related to business activities, it was found that business residences can function optimally if business space is expanded so that business activities and residences have separate spaces. text |
