Karo Regency, located in North Sumatra, emerges as a significant potential in agrotourism due to its fertile land and favorable agricultural climate. In this context, agrotourism is considered a driving force for the agricultural sector, contributing to both economic and environmental sustainability. Considering this potential, the permaculture approach is proposed as a relevant strategy for developing sustainable agrotourism areas. Settlements based on permaculture principles, such as the Agrotourism Resort, offer a solution to create a recreational and productive ecosystem, enhancing tourism appeal in the region. The focus of this design is to generate an architectural plan for the Agrotourism Resort that is productive, self-sufficient, and regenerative, encompassing aspects like agroforestry, water processing, as well as the utilization of renewable and sustainable resources. The expected benefits of this design involve identifying sustainable design solutions for the Agrotourism Resort area, implementing permaculture principles as a step towards preserving and improving environmental quality. In its implementation, the design of the Agrotourism Resort area will leverage bamboo as the main building material, capitalizing on the abundance of bamboo, which is a distinctive feature of Karo Regency. This resort will use bamboo as the main building material, utilizing bamboo distribution areas in the Karo Regency area. Using bamboo as the main material by exploiting its potential to make a positive contribution to the local economy and maintain environmental sustainability.
