Summary: | Infrastructure development is inseparable from the potential dangers or risks that
can cause work accidents caused by unsafe behavior and unsafe conditions. Unsafe
behavior is formed from 3 (three) phases, namely management, work environment,
and individuals. One of the efforts made by PT.X in improving safety at work is to
routinely conduct safety talks and toolbox meetings with workers. However, these
routine activities do not show a significant relationship from the behavior of the
workers themselves, where there are still some workers who do not comply with
safety. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on the factors that can
influence safety behavior in construction workers of the Banda Aceh City High-Rise
Building. This study uses a quantitative approach method to determine the effect of
personal factors, management, and social support on safety behavior. This research
method was carried out by distributing questionnaires to 122 construction workers
using the Convenience Sampling technique. The data analysis method uses
Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Squared (SEM-PLS) and is processed
using SmartPLS 3.0 software. Based on the results of the study, it shows that there
is a positive and significant influence between personal factors and safety behavior
(sig. = 0.002 <0.05; t-statistic = 3.130 > 1.96), management practices with safety
behavior (sig. = 0.046 <0.05; t-statistic = 1.998 > 1.96), and social support for
safety behavior (sig. = 0.006 <0.05; t-statistic = 2.761 > 1.96). However, there is
no mediation effect between safety management practices and social support for
safety behavior. Recommendations for improving safety behavior for management
are to increase motivation through awards or gifts, increase knowledge through
routine training, and improve safety management practices so that they can improve safety culture and reduce work accidents. |
