Summary: | Universal access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) is a basic human right that reflects the well-being of life. However, there are still disparities in access to WASH in Indonesia, which are influenced by economic factors, education, and sanitation behavior. In urban areas, urban poverty exacerbates the gap in access to WASH, where the urban poor are vulnerable to inadequate sanitation facilities due to economic and knowledge limitations. In Bandung Wetan Sub-District, which is located in the middle of Bandung City, this condition is still found where low-income groups are vulnerable to the fulfillment of proper sanitation. The sanitation index is an instrument for evaluating the sanitation system in a community. The sanitation index was analyzed through exploratory factor analysis. The variables that make up the index are built by the 5 pillars of Community-Lead Total Sanitation (CLTS). The results of the analysis show that the sanitation index in Kecamatan Bandung Wetan is order by weight built by the factors of Clean Water Use, Household Welfare, Low Prevalence of Environment-Based Diseases, Fecal User Interface, and Final Handling of Domestic Waste with the highest sanitation index value found in Citarum Urban Village. The results of the SWOT analysis show that the strategy for improving sanitation in Bandung Wetan sub-district is recommended to use a diversification strategy, namely utilizing internal strengths to encounter external threats |
