Description
Summary:Sludge Acid Tar is a hazardous waste produced through the use of high sulfuric acid from the purification of organic matter, so it is acidic and toxic and can pose a potential risk to the health of living things and the environment. The remediation of soil contaminated with Sludge Acid Tar is important to minimize this impact. Soil flushing is recommended for its effective ability to remove a wide range of contaminants that do not require physical soil removal by injecting a special solution through the soil to dissolve or remove contaminants without disturbing the soil layer or significantly altering the natural topography. The selection of the type of Soil Flushing solution can have a significant impact on the effectiveness of the remediation process of Sludge Acid Tar contaminated soil. The Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) Base Solution can be use to neutralize acidity in the soil. The addition of Surfactants as an emulsifier can increase the effectiveness of the removal of hydrophobic contaminants such as Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH). The injection of Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) solution into the soil can increase the oxygen concentration which helps to improve the efficiency of TPH degradation. Assessment of the remediation process using the Leaching Column Test can be used to determine the rate of contaminant removal from contaminated soil and/or sediment to determine appropriate management steps at a larger treatment scale. This study aims to analyze the the soil flushing method using NaOH, Tween 80 and H2O2 solutions and the combination of these solutions with various concentration variations on pH behavior and TPH concentration in soil contaminated with Sludge Acid Tar using the Leaching Column Test. The highest TPH removal was achieved in Reactor 6 by combining pH 9 with 1% Tween 80 solution and 2% H2O2, reaching 58.07% removal with the soil pH increase to 6.83 within 14 days.
