Description
Summary:With the increasing use of fossil fuels, there has been a significant negative impact on the environment, prompting many to adopt renewable energy in various sectors. Indonesia, as a maritime nation with the longest coastline in the world, possesses abundant marine potential. However, many Indonesian fishermen still rely on fossil fuels as their primary energy source for fishing activities. This paper proposes a pollution-free 5 GT electric-powered fishing vessel as a more environmentally friendly alternative. An induction motor is selected as the main propulsion motor due to its reliability, cost-effectiveness, and durability. For motor control, a constant V/f control with a proportional-integral (PI) compensator is employed. The choice of constant V/f control with PI is based on its ease of implementation and control techniques. Based on the analysis, it is determined that a 50 HP electric motor is required as the main propulsion for a 5 GT fishing vessel. The maximum speed achievable by this electric vessel is 11 knots. The speed response of the induction motor shows an overshoot of 5% during acceleration and 4% during deceleration. Under constant speed conditions, the proposed motor control system is still able to maintain the vessel's speed well when there are changes in load.
