Description
Summary:This study analyzed the variation of chlorophyll-a concentration and sea surface temperature in the Sawu Sea in 2020. The analysis was conducted to monitor the spatial and temporal changes of chlorophyll-a concentration and sea surface temperature. Spatial and temporal variations of chlorophyll-a concentration and sea surface temperature in the Sawu Sea are influenced by the Australia-Indonesia Monsoon (AIM) winds, upwelling phenomena, fronts, and local water phenomena. The data used comes from Aqua-MODIS for 12 months in 2020. The results showed that the eastern part of the Sawu Sea has higher chlorophyll-a concentrations than the western part, with values reaching up to 0.6 mg/m³. Temporally, chlorophyll-a concentrations increased between May and October, reaching 0.6 mg/m³ compared to other months. Sea surface temperature (SST) decreased during the same period, reaching 26.85°C. The correlation results show that there is an inverse relationship between chlorophyll-a concentration and sea surface temperature.
