Summary: | The storage and processing of prescriptions are crucial aspects in ensuring the
security and accuracy of medical information. Existing prescription processing
systems are often vulnerable to forgery and cyber-attacks. Blockchain technology
offers a solution to create a more secure and reliable data storage system. In this
study, blockchain technology is implemented using the Hyperledger Fabric
platform to develop a prescription processing system.
Blockchain, with its decentralized and immutable characteristics, enables the
storage of prescription data in a ledger that cannot be altered. Hyperledger Fabric
was chosen for its higher performance and smart contract features, which can
replace the need for centralized parties in the prescription processing workflow.
This research resulted in a blockchain-based application prototype designed to
enhance security and integrity in managing prescriptions.
System testing showed that the developed prototype successfully improved the
security and integrity of prescription data. The system ensures that each
transaction is accurately recorded in an immutable ledger, in line with the defined
functional requirements. However, non-functional testing related to data integrity
could not be fully conducted, as direct modifications to LevelDB are technically
not possible in Hyperledger Fabric. Such actions bypass the consensus mechanism
and could pose significant risks, such as data corruption, ledger inconsistencies,
and threats to blockchain security and integrity. |
