Description
Summary:When making a tunnel, one of the main focuses is the condition of the rocks around the tunnel. The condition of the rocks around the tunnel affects the stability of the tunnel. This research aims to analyze safety factors, large deformations and tunnel collapse zones that can occur using RockScience 2 (RS2) software. The analysis was carried out by comparing the Mohr Coulomb failure criterion and the Hoek- Brown failure criterion. The amount of deformation and failure zone obtained using the Hoek-Brown criterion is smaller than using the Mohr Coulomb criterion, so the safety factor produced by the Hoek-Brown criterion is greater than Mohr Coulomb. The factor that influences this difference is that Hoek Brown approaches cohesion (c) and the angle of internal friction (?) using the parameters mb (material constant) and s (rock mass constant) whose values are much smaller.
