PREDICTION OF CONVERGENT VALUES IN SHALLOW TUNNELS WITH VARIATIONS OF SUPPORT SYSTEMS FOR MEDIUM ROCK MASS CLASSES (RMR 41 – 60)

This study investigates the convergence values in shallow tunnels constructed in medium rock mass classes (RMR 41-60), with depths ranging from 10 to 60 meters.???? We employed four types of tunnel support systems according to JSCE 2016 standards. Convergence or lateral deformation of the tunnel...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/85064 This study investigates the convergence values in shallow tunnels constructed in medium rock mass classes (RMR 41-60), with depths ranging from 10 to 60 meters.???? We employed four types of tunnel support systems according to JSCE 2016 standards. Convergence or lateral deformation of the tunnel plays a crucial role in assessing the stability and safety of the structure. Using RS2 software, we conducted numerical analyses to model various support scenarios and tunnel depths. Our analysis covered the characteristics of the rock material, tunnel design, and the effectiveness of each support system as per the standards. The results reveal significant differences in the performance of the support types, particularly at greater depths, with the Support 4 system emerging as the most effective in reducing convergence. This research highlights the importance of choosing the right support system to enhance the stability of shallow tunnels, especially at depths between 10 and 60 meters. The results of this reasearch offer practical guidance for the planning and design of underground infrastructure. Moreover, the insights gained from this study can be applied to similar geological conditions to minimize the risk of structural failure and ensure optimal operational safety. text
