Its unique geographical location plays a significant role in the island's tourism industry. Crosswind is a wind that blows perpendicular to the direction of a moving object, such as an airplane in flight. Crosswind can deflect the direction of takeoff or landing. Meanwhile, tailwind blows from behind the aircraft, reducing lift. Most airplanes will avoid taking off and landing if there is a tailwind, as it can result in excessively long runway usage. The process of analyzing wind characteristics begins with calculating wind component values, which are then presented as percentages based on wind direction and speed. After that, a windrose diagram is created from the processed wind data using the WRPlot application to determine the dominant wind direction throughout the period from 2013 to 2022. The process of calculating wind components starts with entering recorded runway wind direction and speed data into Microsoft Excel software. The wind blowing on the runway of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport comes from the east and west, indicating the influence of the western and eastern monsoons. The dominant wind speed class over the past 10 years is 4-10 knots, with a percentage of 60%, while the wind speed class above 20 knots has a percentage of 0.4%. The highest average wind speed occurs during the JJA season (June-July-August). Additionally, wind speed around I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport tends to increase from morning to noon. January, February, and December are the months with the most occurrences of extreme winds (>20 knots) over the past 10 years, affecting flight operations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. text
