Summary: | Nusantara The New Capital City of Indonesia (IKN) as a new urban area will
certainly change climate patterns in the area due to changes in land cover. However,
previous studies have only examined climate patterns in IKN due to land cover
change in the present climate. While IKN as a future sustainable city requires future
climate projections to support the realization of its vision.
Conventional regional climate projections often encounter various limitations in
downscaling from global projection data, mainly in computational costs and the
length of time period required. This research uses the Pseudo-Global-Warming
(PGW) method as an alternative to avoid these limitations.
The results of this study were obtained that, in the PGW IKN scenario, the
temperature in the study area on average increased to reach 2.5°C in the future
during the day. Wind speed showed the most significant weakening at night, which
was up to 2 m/s, except during the day when there was an increase in the IKN.
Changes in future temperature and wind in the IKN area in the PGW IKN scenario
show the combined impact of land cover change and increased greenhouse gas
emissions amplifying the effects of global warming. Even so, the results of changes
due to the PGW IKN scenario compared to the PGW scenario have not shown
significant changes in the future. |
