STUDY ON THE EFFECT VARIATION OF CONDITONING TIME, DOSING POINT, SULPHIDIZATION POTENTIAL LEVEL ON THE FLOTATION OF VARIOUS STOCKPILE ORE TYPES AT PT AMMAN MINERAL NUSA TENGGARA USING THE SULPHIDIZATION POTENTIAL CONTROL METHOD

PT AMMAN Mineral Nusa Tenggara (PT AMNT) applies an open-pit stockpile method for storing low-grade copper ore. PT AMNT plans to process this ore. However, the ore stored in open spaces can undergo oxidation, which reduces copper recovery during flotation. To enhance copper recovery, a sulphidizatio...

PT AMNT plans to process this ore. However, the ore stored in open spaces can undergo oxidation, which reduces copper recovery during flotation. To enhance copper recovery, a sulphidization potential control method is required. This study aims to optimize the sulphidization potential control method by determining the conditioning time, dosing point, and sulphidization potential level parameters that can yield optimum copper recovery at various oxidation levels. The oxidation degree at PT AMNT is referred to as ACRAT. A series of flotation experiments using the sulphidization potential control method were conducted to determine the optimum conditioning time, dosing point, and sulphidization potential level at various ACRAT levels. ACRAT variations consist of very high, high, medium, and low ACRAT. Flotation experiments with varying conditioning times were conducted with durations of 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, and 300 seconds on very high ACRAT ore types. Then, dosing points were varied at stages (1, 2, 3, 4), (2, 3, 4), (3, 4), and (4) with a conditioning time of 60 seconds on very high, high, and medium ACRAT ore types. Next, the sulphidization potential level was varied at 0, -150, -300, -450, and -600 mV with dosing points at stages (1, 2, 3, 4) and a conditioning time of 60 seconds on low, medium, high and very high ACRAT. The experiment began with stockpile ore sampling, stockpile sample preparation, followed by homogenization and sample division, then feed grade analysis, grinding time establishment, and flotation experiments were then carried out. The flotation product was weighed dry and analyzed for Cu content and acid-soluble copper (AsCu) using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The experimental results showed that a conditioning time of 60 seconds provided optimum results with a copper recovery of 72.67% and a copper grade of 12.38%. The dosing point at stages (1, 2, 3, 4) with conditioning time of 60 seconds provided optimum results at medium, high, and very high ACRAT variations with copper recoveries of 83.13%, 78.64%, and 71.31%, respectively. A sulphidization potential level of -450 mV with dosing point at stages (1, 2, 3, 4) and conditioning time of 60 seconds provided optimum results at low, medium, high, and very high ACRAT ore variations with copper recoveries of 95.55%, 83.62%, 79.11%, and 74.63%, respectively. text
