Description
Summary:Down-hole Water Sink (DWS) is an effective technology to control water coning problem in oil wells which usually occurs in a water drive reservoir. The main idea of this technology is create a counterbalance pressure drawdown in water zone, so the water coning can be prevented. DWS is applied using dual completion for oil production and water drainage with two completions separated with packer. Generally, DWS technology can be separated in two parts, which are water drainage production (WDP) and water drainage injection (WDI). The difference of them is the mechanism of water production. If we produce oil-free water from bottom completion, this method is water drainage production, and water drainage injection is a method to inject oil-free water from bottom completion to injection interval in the particular water zone. This study involves experiments with computer simulation to model reservoir performances and to approximate the existence of water coning in dual completion well. The model is single well model with bottom aquifer. This computer-simulated reservoir is used to confirm oil recovery and pressure decline in DWS well and conventional well that considering sensitivity of strength of aquifer. The objective of this study is to know the influence of strength of aquifer in DWS technology compare to water drainage injection, water drainage production and conventional well. Therefore, in field application, we have to consider the strength of aquifer before designing this technology. It also gives alternative solution to improve oil recovery factor in weak water drive reservoir with DWS water drainage injection method and analyzes performance of this method toward depth distance of injection zone to OWC. This study can be used to optimize potential of weak water drive reservoir which has water coning problem. <br />
