antioxidants are needed to block the release of DHT and neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS). As an
alternative solution, rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) is a plant rich in secondary metabolites with
antioxidant properties. Rosemary leaves are formulated as a nanoemulsion to act as an external
antioxidant. The aim of this study is to develop an optimal formula of rosemary extract in rosemary oil
by optimizing the concentrations of extract, oil, and surfactant, as well as optimizing the duration and
amplitude of the probe sonicator. The characterization of the rosemary extract nanoemulsion was also
conducted. The optimal formula was obtained with a composition of 2% (w/v) rosemary ethanol extract,
2% (w/v) rosemary oil, 1,8% (w/v) Tween 80, 1,2% (w/v) propylene glycol, 1% (w/v) hexylene glycol, 1%
(w/v) phenoxyethanol, 1% (w/v) menthol, and distilled water up to 100% (w/v). The organoleptic
characteristics were clear orange color, a characteristic aromatherapy scent, liquid consistency, with a
globule size of 233,65±15,48 nm, polydispersity index of 0,36±0,02, zeta potential of -17,90±0,61 mV, pH
of 5,33±0,17, viscosity of 1.114±0,127 P, antioxidant activity with a %inhibition of 63,92%, and it showed
the best stability at a storage temperature of 25 C
