ANALYSIS OF POTENTIAL ION-ADSORPTION TYPE RARE EARTH ELEMENTS IN THE KLABAT GRANITE FORMATION AT MUNTOK AND CENTRAL BANGKA, BANGKA BELITUNG ISLANDS

Rare Earth Elements (REE) are 17 elements consisting of 15 lanthanide group elements and two elements with similar properties. With the increasing demand for more environmentally friendly energy, the demand for rare earth elements will also increase, especially in technological developments. In Indo...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/85380 Rare Earth Elements (REE) are 17 elements consisting of 15 lanthanide group elements and two elements with similar properties. With the increasing demand for more environmentally friendly energy, the demand for rare earth elements will also increase, especially in technological developments. In Indonesia, one of the possible rare earth elements occurrences is in the Bangka Belitung Islands in the form of ion-adsorption type deposits which are weathering residues of granite rocks and adsorbed by clay minerals, especially kaolinite and haloisite. This study uses X-ray Flourescence (XRF), Reflectance Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscope Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) tests to determine the potential for the presence of ion-adsorption type rare earth metals on Bangka Island. There are indications of potential rare earth metals and clay minerals kaolinite and haloisite as shown in the results of X-ray Flourescence (XRF), Reflectance Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscope Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) and petrographic analysis. text
