Description
Summary:This study aims to analyze the impact of coal characteristics from the Barito Utara and Tabalong regions on gasification reactivity using thermogravimetric-mass spectrometry analysis. The coal samples utilized are BR01 from Barito Utara Regency and AD01 from Tabalong Regency. The study includes proximate, ultimate, calorific value analyses, and thermogravimetric-mass spectrometry. The results indicate that the BR01 sample is classified as high-volatile A bituminous, while the AD01 sample is classified as subbituminous B. The BR01 sample exhibits lower reactivity compared to the AD01 sample. This is attributed to the higher rank of coal in the BR01 sample, which results in lower porosity and a smaller active surface area. Additionally, gas release during the gasification process reveals that CO is the dominant gas product for the BR01 sample, whereas the AD01 sample shows a more significant release of H2O. This study provides valuable insights for optimizing the coal gasification process by considering the characteristics of the coal used.
