THE STUDY OF THE EROSION HANDLING CONCEPT OF CEROCOK PAINAN SHORE IN PESISIR SELATAN REGENCY-WEST SUMATRA

ABSTRACT: <br /> <br /> <br /> Shore erosion is the process of a decrease in shoreline from the initial shoreline position. This is due to the material resistant which is surpassed by the force resulted by tide and wave effect, the absence of balance, among others, supply of sediment coming to the part of the shore being studied and the capacity of sediment transport in the shore part. <br /> <br /> <br /> The location of Cerocok Painan Shore on the west of the city of Painan. The problem at Cerocok Painan shore is erosion. Erosion on this shore causes the decrease in shoreline reaching several meters from the initial shoreline, thus threatening the infrastructure along the shoreline. Until now, handling towards the decrease in shoreline due to erosion has been conducted by constructing shore structure in the form of a sea wall along Cerocok Painan Shore. <br /> <br /> <br /> This thesis tries to analyse the cause of erosion of Cerocok Painan Shore and provide solution of preventive effort so that the shore does not keep decreasing. <br /> <br /> <br /> Through this study, changes in shoreline due to erosion has been analysed by using Genesis computer software by simulating the existing condition of shoreline change and by the presence of safe guard construction along the shore. <br /> <br /> <br /> From the result of analysis, erosion took place naturally, with the presence of TPI structure on the shore which causes sediment flow to Cerocok Painan Shore on the northern part of the TPI to stop and sediment flow carried from the south was greater. <br /> <br /> <br /> The erosion preventive effort using integrated handling was more effective and the result was more optimum by using Krib and revetment. From the structure, it is expected that a new uneroded/stable shoreline is obtained.
