DATA PROCESSING AND SUBSURFACE INTERPRETATION USING GRAVITY DATA OF THE KAMOJANG GEOTHERMAL FIELD, GARUT, WEST JAVA

The Kamojang geothermal field, located in Garut Regency, West Java, is an area with high geothermal potential, characterized by the frequent occurrence of hot springs and fumaroles. This study aims to develop a detailed subsurface model of the geothermal system in this region. Utilizing gravity...

This study aims to develop a detailed subsurface model of the geothermal system in this region. Utilizing gravity data from the Exploration Geophysics Laboratory at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), collected in 2006, we constructed an accurate Complete Bouguer Anomaly map, employing an average density derived from the Parasnis method of 2.56 g/cc. The Complete Bouguer Anomaly values for Kamojang range from 22.5 mGal to 35.5 mGal. In analyzing this data, we applied a separation technique using a Moving Average filter to distinguish regional and residual anomalies. Derivative analysis using the FHD (First Horizontal Derivative) and SVD (Second Vertical Derivative) methods revealed the presence of significant fault structures oriented Southwest-Northeast. Two of the three transects from the derivative analysis indicated the presence of normal faults, while the other transect indicated a reverse fault. The fault structures identified through derivative analysis are consistent with the findings from the residual anomaly map and the geological map text
