Summary: | Indonesia has abundant coal reserves, especially low to medium quality coal, which plays an important role as fuel for Coal Fired Power Plants (CFPPs). The coal procurement system by CFPPs in Indonesia is currently limited by the range of coal quality specifications required by CFPPs. This condition poses problems in the long-term coal supply because the availability of coal suppliers is limited and will run out over time and tends to have expensive prices. In order for the long-term coal needs for CFPPs to remain guaranteed, it is necessary to consider a coal blending mechanism. This study includes consideration of coal quality parameters, coal reserves at suppliers, coal demand by CFPPs, and the type of transportation used. Mixed-integer linear programming is used to find optimal solutions with cost as a objective function. The results show that the coal blending mechanism allows the use of coal from various suppliers with different qualities that produce coal products according to the specifications of the coal-fired power plant at a lower cost. The implementation of the coal blending scenario is expected to improve the efficiency and sustainability of energy supply for CFPPs in Indonesia. |
