Summary: | One of the main developments carried out by the Bandung Institute of Technology is Multifunctional Building B on the Cirebon Campus. This building is one of the main buildings at the Bandung Institute of Technology, Cirebon Campus. This building was built on a layer of soft clay soil, but on the inside there are several layers of very hard soil. In this building construction project, the process of leveling the ground height will be carried out to the level of the original land in the project environment itself. So a soil retaining wall is needed that will withstand the weight of the mass of embankment that will be carried out later.
The existing soft soil condition is one of the problems that must be resolved. In this project, soil improvements will be carried out using preloading with the help of Prefabrecatef Vertical Drain (PVD) to speed up soil consolidation time. At this time, the level of the location's ground surface level will be carried out to the desired level.
The building foundation that was initially planned would use a deep pile foundation in the form of a pile foundation. The planning carried out must take into account the bearing capacity, deflection and settlement of the pile. However, later the plan will be changed to drilled piles because it does not meet the standards used. In this planning, you will pay attention to the foundation configuration, depth of piles, dimensions of piles and pile caps, and reinforcement of piles and pile caps. The retaining wall mentioned previously is the main part of this plan. The retaining walls used are sheet piles, especially steel sheet piles. The attention that needs to be paid is the soil strength of the sheet pile itself to withstand the existing soil loads.
