This study explores the impact of urbanization within Metropolitan Bandung Raya (MBR), particularly in Kelurahan Arjuna, by examining its implications on economic, socio-cultural, and environmental contexts. While urbanization opens doors to easier access to jobs and public services, rapid growth can lead to land and housing crises, and challenges related to energy and environmental impacts. The main focus of this research is to analyze the land and housing crisis, where the increase in population density necessitates efforts for adequate housing. This study also explores the impact of urbanization on greenhouse gas emissions, emphasizing on energy consumption in the construction sector. The discussion on embodied energy in housing highlights the importance of considering the energy contained in building material selection as means to reduce environmental impact from building life-cycle. In the context of Kelurahan Arjuna, the site of Rusun Industri Dalam (Indal) becomes a primary focal point. An in-depth analysis of the site, including site delineation, topography, climatology, accessibility, and biological and environmental aspects, is conducted to identify inherent opportunities and constraints. This site has the potential for a high-density housing with demographic advantages, as it is close to educational, healthcare, and lifestyle facilities. However, several obstacles, such as suboptimal land allocation, constrained access, and a lack of green space, need to be addressed to fully realize its potential. In this context, full government support and active community participation are key to the successful implementation of sustainable public policies. Therefore, policy recommendations will include better spatial planning, infrastructure improvements, efficient land management, and the integration of green elements as a strategy in creating an inclusive, safe, and sustainable environment, in line with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This research contributes to the development of a conceptual and practical framework, addressing the impacts of urbanization in Kelurahan Arjuna. Through an in-depth analysis of the Industrial Apartment site (Indal) and research related to the economic, social, and environmental impacts of urbanization, it is hoped that the proposed policy recommendations can serve as a guide to achieving sustainable urban development and become an example for other regions in wisely and effectively addressing the dynamics of urbanization. Overall, this research underscores the importance of a holistic and sustainable approach to managing urbanization in order to achieve balanced and sustainable development goals. text
