APPLICATION OF THE RADIOMAGNETOTELLURIC METHOD SHALLOW SUBSURFACE SURVEY IN THE RANCACIUNG LIMBANGAN FIELD, GARUT REGENCY

The Radiomagnetotelluric (RMT) method is an electromagnetic technique that utilizes signals from radio transmitters in the frequency range of 10 kHz to 1 MHz. Due to the limited frequency range, RMT is typically used for shallow investigations. The RMT method is still relatively new, with most research conducted in Europe. This study represents the first application of the RMT method in Indonesia. Data processing was carried out using Tensor-M and mtpy, and 2D inversion results were obtained with Occam2DMT. The survey was conducted in the Rancaciung Field, Neglasari Village, Limbangan District, Garut Regency. Data acquisition was collected from three profiles with a total of 18 stations, spaced 20 meters apart. From the RMT data acquisition, the resistivity range obtained was 100 – 105 Ohm m. 2D inversion was applied to each profile and compared with reference values and available geological information. The results indicate that the RMT method can be applied in the study area and is a reliable approach for shallow subsurface exploration.
