Description
Summary:Abstract:

Reservoir with water driving mechanism will has unique characteristic compared to reservoir with other driving mechanism, i.e the pressure decline is very gradual. The reason is that oil and gas withdrawals from the reservoir are replaced almost volume per volume by water encroaching into the oil zone. Using prescribed limiting pressure as boundary condition at reservoir-aquifer, this paper presents the development of decline type curves for reservoirs undergoing strong water influx. The pressure in that boundary may either abruptly change as step change or gradually decline as ramp change. While prescribed limiting pressure might seem an overwhelming limitation, the decline type curves developed can be used as diagnostic tools to interpret reservoir water driving performance and efficiency, and also as theoretical justification of decline type curves using prescribed flux at outer boundary have been developed by Doublet and Blasingame
