Description
Summary:Sumatera is one of Indonesia region which has the most active of tectonic activities. It has being through by subduction zone between Indo-Australia plate and Eurasian plate. Because of the earth characteristic is dynamic, the subduction zone would prompt earthquake potency whenever there is a movement inside earth structure. On September 12, 2007, there was a great earthquake, with Magnitude 8.5, shudder southwest Bengkulu the west coast of Sumatra. A Bengkulu's earthquake in September 2007 been modeled as an attempt to study the earthquake mechanism. This research also investigated the displcement (movement) pattern that caused by earthquake on the south west region of Sumatera. This research introduces one of the methods that can be used to modeled parameters of the earthquake mechanism based on coseismic displacement on the surface. These parameters been calculated to solve dislocation model that be applied in subduction zone, just like in Sumatera. The earthquake displacement pattern been recognized by GPS observation. This model research is being expected could give any advantage in mitigation action of earthquake disaster. In addition, it could be used to improve alertness toward tsunami's danger threat (tsunami early warning system), thus would minimum the victims. <br />
