In response to this problem, Jakarta is continuously encouraging the development of vertical housing as one solution to accommodate these needs. However, vertical buildings that continue to be built without accommodating the needs of residents will cause a decline in the quality of life and the environment in them. To overcome this problem, the Vertical City concept is one solution that can be applied. Vertical City is an urban development concept that integrates various functions in one tall building or building complex that offers innovative solutions to the problems of population density and land limitations. The concept of this vertical city is still relatively foreign to its application. The application of the vertical city concept itself in Jakarta still faces many challenges, especially the lack of understanding and clear standards regarding its physical characteristics. Therefore, a research idea emerged with the aim of identifying the suitability of apartment development in Jakarta to the vertical city concept through a qualitative approach by collecting data from literature studies, case studies, and interviews with experts. Data analysis will be carried out to identify key themes and develop a more integrated understanding of the vertical city concept. The results of the analysis show that the Vertical City concept is not only building tall buildings, but also integrating horizontal urban elements in general, especially their physical characteristics, into one complete vertical area for the sake of efficient land use. Kalibata City, Bassura City, and Green Pramuka City are case studies that meet the physical characteristics of the Vertical City concept, while Gandaria City approaches the concept. This study ultimately produces what the vertical city concept actually is and its physical characteristics in the form of public open spaces, public services, sustainable environment, functional, accessibility, and other basic infrastructure. text |

The large number of people moving and settling in Jakarta is comparable to their
demand for housing amidst the limited availability of land. In response to this
problem, Jakarta is continuously encouraging the development of vertical housing
as one solution to accommodate these needs. However, vertical buildings that
continue to be built without accommodating the needs of residents will cause a
decline in the quality of life and the environment in them. To overcome this problem,
the Vertical City concept is one solution that can be applied. Vertical City is an
urban development concept that integrates various functions in one tall building or
building complex that offers innovative solutions to the problems of population
density and land limitations. The concept of this vertical city is still relatively
foreign to its application. The application of the vertical city concept itself in
Jakarta still faces many challenges, especially the lack of understanding and clear
standards regarding its physical characteristics. Therefore, a research idea
emerged with the aim of identifying the suitability of apartment development in
Jakarta to the vertical city concept through a qualitative approach by collecting
data from literature studies, case studies, and interviews with experts. Data
analysis will be carried out to identify key themes and develop a more integrated
understanding of the vertical city concept. The results of the analysis show that the
Vertical City concept is not only building tall buildings, but also integrating
horizontal urban elements in general, especially their physical characteristics, into
one complete vertical area for the sake of efficient land use. Kalibata City, Bassura

characteristics of the Vertical City concept, while Gandaria City approaches the
concept. This study ultimately produces what the vertical city concept actually is
and its physical characteristics in the form of public open spaces, public services,
