Indonesia Theses INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/8584 ABSTRACT:

Photodegradation of polystyren (PS) by ultraviolet radiation (X = 300 nm) had been investigated in an air environment with the presence of ferrichloride as photosensitizer. The degree of photodegradation had been determined by measurement of the absorbance Ratio of the hydroxide group peaks from F1 1R spectograms. This data were supported by the mechanical properties tests, the degree of crystalinity, and the viscosity of average molecular weight. Result of the research showed that the ferrichloride could increase the degree of photodegradation of PS. The optimum degree of photodegradation is shown by addition of ferrichloride of 2% weight concentration and length of radiation of 15 days. text
