Summary: | The growth of Indonesian transportation especially in cities led to increased destination time and traffic jams. One of the solutions is an air taxi using an electric Vertical Take-Off Landing (eVTOL). As one of the countries capable of producing aircraft, PT XYZ seizes the chance to produce eVTOL domestically. This eVTOL is also used as a mode of transportation later in IKN. As the only player in the eVTOL aircraft industry in Indonesia, PT XYZ planning to administer the production of eVTOL aircraft domestically.
This research’s purpose is to provide PT XYZ with a comprehensive financial feasibility study for the production of the aircraft. PT XYZ planned the project of eVTOL aircraft production from 2024 to 2035 and the project needs to determine its feasibility. From 2024 to 2028 PT XYZ planned to expend their capital for the research and preparation. From 2029 to 2035 PT XYZ planned to sell 1710 eVTOL aircraft in the domestic market and international market.
With a total of $327,292,103.88 for the project’s investment, the eVTOL aircraft production resulted in a positive net present value and internal rate of return exceeding the weighted average cost of capital with a payback period of 8 years. PT XYZ planned to sell the aircraft for $2,283,626.96 with the cost of goods sold $2,470,673.59.
This research resulted in evTOL aircraft production as financially feasible with some variables and chances affecting the project’s Net Present Value. Using sensitivity analysis, variables affecting this project’s NPV are aircraft prices and the cost of goods sold. Using the Monte Carlo simulation, the eVTOL aircraft production project has an 80% chance of positive NPV with a 50% chance of NPV higher than base NPV.
