In Indonesia, thousands of villages remain untouched by the advancement in such technology, especially telephones. Government's programs to connect these villages face challenges, such as the attitudes of people towards using the telephone technology. The objective of this research is to identify what variables which could effect attitudes, subjective norm and perceived behavior control and how each o those variables effect the intentions of of village people to buy and to use telephones. The data are taken from a survey of 141 respondents covering 6 villages in 3 regions surrounding the city of Bandung, West Java. To examine the relationship among variables in the study, the multiple regression analysis technique was used. The regression analysis yields the following findings: (a) significant variables which can predict the intensions of villages people are attitude toward behavior and perceived behavior control variable ; (b) none of two factors from subjective norms variable could significantly effect intentions; (c) perceived behavior contol variables can not prooved to be significantly affect relations between attitude toward behavior and intentions, also between subjective norm and intentions. It could be expected that these research findings can give valuable contributions to existing village phone models developed by the government and private sectors. The findings can also complement the variation in the relationships among variables according to the theory of planned behavior in order to create a better model to explain intensis and behavior. <br /> text |
