Conventional petroleum residue recovery methods (primary and secondary recovery) can only recover about 30 – 40% of the total oil content. Tertiary recovery methods such as EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) technology are required. MEOR (Microbial EOR) is one of the EOR methods that encourages the growth of microorganisms that produce certain bioproducts to increase oil recovery. Therefore, this study aims to optimize additional nutrients in the form of molasses, NPK, and DAP for MEOR biostimulation strategy approach in light fraction petroleum wells in Jambi. This study used molasses, NPK, and DAP concentrations as independent variables that were varied through the RSM (Response Surface Methodology) experimental design using CCD (Central Composite Design) type. The media formulation contains 97% brine water, 3% petroleum, and additional nutrients based on RSM design with response variables in the form of bacterial cell count, pH, and emulsification index. The results of the nutrient optimization formula carried out were the concentration of molasses 5,992% (w/v); NPK 0,001% (w/v); and DAP 3,164% (w/v) with the predicted response of cell count reaching log 4,57; medium pH 9,03; and emulsification index 56,50%. The validation test based on the optimum nutrient obtained the bacterial cell count reached log 6,20; medium pH 8,40; and emulsification index reached 68,70%. Physicochemical changes in petroleum after treatment were tested by SARA (Saturate, Aromatic, Resin, Asphaltane), IFT (interfacial tension), and viscosity methods. An increase in saturate oil component by 16,04% and a decrease in aromatic, resin and asphaltene components by 14,25%; 1,67%; and 0,12%, respectively, were obtained, followed by a decrease in IFT and oil viscosity by 9,41% and 18,23%, respectively. Through this study, it can be concluded that the addition of optimum nutrients can improve the recovery of light fraction petroleum in Jambi. text |
