Description
Summary:Freight forwarding is a critical industry sector that plays a crucial role in managing logistics and the transportation of goods, both domestically and internationally. PT XYZ, a mid-sized freight forwarding company that has been operating since 2000, faces various challenges in its operations as the volume and complexity of data increase. These challenges have led to significant operational errors, including losses due to potential profit reductions of up to 11.5% per month. Therefore, this research aims to design and plan the implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that can help PT XYZ address these issues and enhance their competitiveness in a rapidly evolving industry. This study uses SAP Activate as the primary methodology for system design and ERP implementation planning, covering phases from preparation, solution design, to deployment. During the preparation phase, Business Process Management (BPM) principles were applied to map PT XYZ's business processes. The mapping was conducted using the Process Classification Framework (PCF) from the American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC) as the standard reference. Data for the study were collected through unstructured interviews, observations, and internal company document reviews, which were then analyzed to identify the company’s needs in the ERP implementation process. The research findings indicate that Odoo Enterprise is the most suitable standard package ERP system for the company’s needs. The required functionalities can be met by Odoo Enterprise’s modules with certain configurations and customizations. Additionally, the creation of an implementation step guide, provided after system configuration and customization, can be used by the company to successfully implement the ERP system. The guide is focused on an iterative process, considering continuous improvement.
