INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/86105 Bamboo is a construction material with good mechanical properties and low energy requirements because it is a natural material. On the other hand, as a natural material, bamboo has characteristics that make it difficult to apply, particularly in its joints. Many bamboo joints have been developed, but they are still challenging to apply and have not fully utilized the tensile strength of bamboo. One type of bamboo joint that leverages bamboo's tensile strength is the radial compression joint. Although it has high tensile strength, this joint still exhibits significant deformation. This study observed a reduction in deformation by adding mortar injection to the radial compression bamboo joint system. This is because the mortar inside the bamboo can withstand radial compressive forces due to the working wire configuration. As the radial compressive force increases, the overall strength of the joint improves. To maximize radial compressive force, the binding configuration greatly influences the radial compression bamboo joint with mortar injection. Additionally, with the addition of mortar injection, the binding system in this joint remains effective and there is no significant reduction in strength. The results of this study are based on quantitative experimental data supported by qualitative data from a desk study. text |
