The objective of the device is that to become an interface between external hardware and LAN so the external hardware can be controlled remotely through LAN. The external hardware is electronic devices that have a serial port on it as a communication port to the <br />

other devices, e.g. barcode reader, printer, switch, hub, and others. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
TCP/IP protocol is implemented on the device to make it controllable through LAN. A device driver also developed to make the PC on the LAN can communicate to the device <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
with a specified protocol. The device can be use as an interface to some of the external-hardware in the same time through serial port. To fulfill that requirement, some microcontrollers that connected each other are used to build the device and implement SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) communication mechanism on it. <br />

In conclusion, the device reduces some of the weakness of using a computer as an interface to the external hardware directly. Some of the advantages in using the device <br />

are: minimize the cost, reduce electrical resource needed, and minimize the space needed. <br />
<br />

The device successfully operates as an interface between a PC in LAN and some of the external-hardware in the same time. Even though the device has operates successfully, it <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
still has weaknesses such as: it cant guarantee a successful communication that transfer a huge size of data and it still vulnerable is security issue. <br />
